	Driving Home for Christmas

Liefst 70 weken was Chris Rea onderweg en nu, in de week dat hij op 74-jarige leeftijd overleed, is het hem gelukt. Zijn kerstklassieker "Driving home for Christmas" voert voor het eerst de Hitzone 100 aan.

Het nummer uit 1986 maakte in 2006 zijn debuut in de lijst en groeide door de jaren heen uit tot een echte classic. Tijdens kerst 2009 werd voor het eerst de top 10 gehaald en in 2020 voor het eerst de top 3 met als eindstation #3. In 2021 en 2022 kwam het liedje met #2 nog een trede hoger en nu, drie jaar later, scoort Rea zijn eerste #1-hit.  

De laatste week van de traditionele kersttakeover maken nog eens twee nummers hun intrede. Daarmee komt het totaal aan kerstgerelateerde platen op 41 stuks. Naar verwachting zullen deze volgende week allemaal verdwijnen en gaan we weer naar een 'reguliere' lijst.
